It is no secret that the city of Chicago is in a state of emergency. The surge of violence in our communities is heart wrenching. Our young people are dying before they have yet to live. The abstract violence of underfunded schools, scarce of employment, lack of social resources and menial opportunities are readily manifesting before our eyes as some of our young people turn to patterns of criminality and self-destruction.
The African adage reminds us, "that it takes a village to raise a child." The youth of Chicago will be the future of Chicago. We have to remind them that they are worth so much more. They have the capacity to give to themselves, their families, and their communities.
P.O.W.3.R. strives to educate, enlighten, and empower youth to grow and develop into positive contributors to their community. Our desire is to cultivate inner city Chicago youth to live to their fullest potential.
We strive to remind them to be:
Productive Optimistic Worthy Educated Enlightened Empowered Ready
